"Global Europe 2050" was formulated to provide inspiration to the whole of society as a way for the EU to actively respond to the approaching future. The long-term forecasts adopted in this report are not intended to accurately predict the future, but to provide various scenarios or perceptions about the future, allowing policy developers and decision makers and the whole of society to ponder upon various ideas and thoughts.
In the Global Europe 2050 Report, each scenario was prepared in a format that addresses the following six key aspects of the future in the order of their listing.
○ Global demographics and social issues
○ Energy and natural resource security and efficiency, environment, and climate change
○ Economic and technical outlook
○ International status and governance: EU borders, integration, and roles at the global level
○ Domains (territory) and mobility dynamics
○ Research, education, and innovation
In each scenario, the six dimensions were presented in the ascending order of their sensitivity level to policy decisions. In other words, all the scenarios start with presenting demographic trends and end with discussing future research, education, and innovation.
